    Definition of Life

Posted By on September 23, 2010

Noun 1. gratitude – a feeling of thankfulness and appreciation; “he was overwhelmed with gratitude for their help”

Adj. 1. thankful – feeling or showing gratitude; “a grateful heart”; “grateful for the tree’s shade”; “a thankful smile”

Adj. 1. selfless – showing unselfish concern for the welfare of others

These three words have played a heavy part in my life for the last two months. Much more so than they ever have in my entire life. I know these words well, I live these words on a daily basis. Two of them mainly, but I watch a person live the third relentlessly, often costing them their own comfort or well being.

I know not why he does the things he does for people. He doesn’t ask for much in return, other than you be honest with him, and do your best in everything you do.

I can never show the level of gratitude and thankfulness that I have for this man, because the cup has run over, and can no longer be measured. I am in his debt.

The countless acts of selflessness this man brings forth every single day is ridiculous, and I don’t understand where it all comes from. I love him for it, as do many others.

Today he did something for my husband and I, that I never saw coming. I nearly burst into tears, taken aback at the sincerity of his generous act of kindness. I only hope that one day I may be able to repay him ten fold for the things that he need not have done, but only did out of the kindness of his heart.

It is people like him that keep my faith in humanity. Reminding me, that yes, there are those people out in the world that will do for others without even being asked. If only more people on this earth would follow where his heart guides him this world would be a much better place.

I know he doesn’t like to hear it, because he feels that no thanks are necessary, but thank you, thank you from the bottom of my heart, you have no idea the weight you lifted off of my mind when you shared the news. You are a gifted man in many ways, and the size of your heart is your biggest virtue.

I will not name him, nor the great act of kindness he laid at my feet today, because he knows who he is and what he has done, and I hope he knows it will never be forgotten. Never in a million years.
